Salmond - 1875
The 1875 Salmond Covered Bridge is a 53-foot long Multiple Kingpost Truss that carries the Henry Gould Road over the Sherman Brook in Weathersfield Windsor County, Vermont. This bridge was moved to its current location in 1986.
Originally crossing the Black River near Stoughton Pond the bridge was moved in 1959 to a location beside Route 131 in Amsden to remove it from the flood control area. The bridge served as a town storage shed for two decades until it was restored and moved to its current location in 1986.
The length of the Salmond Bridge's span is 46.9 feet, with a deck width of 15.4 feet, and a 6 tons weight limit. It was built by James F. Tasker.
Of the over 500 covered bridges that were built in the state of Vermont, as of 2019, only 104 remain.
