Fisher - 1968
The 1968 Fishers Covered Bridge, over the Chippewa River, is located in Deerfield Nature Park in Mt. Pleasant, Isabela County, Michigan. Fisher’s Covered Bridge is named after local residents, the Fisher family, who were instrumental in developing the park. Originally built in 1968, this 61-foot Stringer bridge was destroyed by fire under mysterious circumstances in 1995. The bridge was rebuilt the next year.
The Deerfield Nature Park, managed by the Isabella County Parks and Recreation Commission, spans over 591 acres and offers a variety of recreational activities, including hiking, fishing, picnicking, and disc golf.
A well-kept local secret for many years, the Fisher’s Covered Bridge is listed in the Worldwide Directory of Covered Bridges, produced by the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges.
