Mt. Pleasant - 1918
The 1918 Mt. Pleasant Covered Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge located in Jackson Township near New Germantown in Perry County, Pennsylvania.
Mt. Pleasant Bridge is a 60-foot-long and 17 feet 9 inches wide King post bridge, constructed in 1918 by L.M. Wentzel, which crosses Sherman Creek. Mount Pleasant Covered Bridge was not originally a covered bridge but was rebuilt in 1918 as a covered bridge. The construction date was rather late for covered bridges but may have been built out of wood to conserve materials for the war effort.
Of the 1,500 covered bridges that once stood in the state of Pennsylvania, as of 2019, approximately 200 remain.
Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on August 25, 1980.
