Locksley - 1964
The Locksley Covered Bridge, built in 1964 by Arnold Bryan, was constructed using the Kingpost design. The 32-foot bridge crosses Locksley Run in a residential neighborhood and was built using wood from the trees cut down to clear the area.
The bridge, which is located on a cul-de-sac, is in need of repair after several trucks have hit it in the past. There was never a height limit on it, so it has been hit a couple of times by trucks delivering to the 13 homes on the other side of the bridge. To help combat destruction from trucks, a height sign was put in after the last hit, which seems to have worked for the time being. It had been decided to raise the roof two feet, but the cost was roughly $40,000, and whether to raise the roof or to remove it is in debate.
Of the 1,500 covered bridges that once stood in the state of Pennsylvania, as of 2019, approximately 200 remain.
