Kochenderfer - 1919
The 1919 Kochendefer Covered Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge located in Saville Township in Perry County, Pennsylvania. Kochendefer Bridge is 72-foot-long, 18 feet wide, and with an interior height of 12 feet six inches, modified king post, queen post truss bridge, constructed in 1919 that crosses Big Buffalo Creek. The planking is 2-1/2 inches by 14 feet. The bridge is owned by Perry County.
Kochenderfer Bridge was built in 1919 by the Adair Brothers at a cost of $2,380. The bridge was bypassed in 1986, has been closed to traffic, and is privately owned.
Of the 1,500 covered bridges that once stood in the state of Pennsylvania, as of 2019, approximately 200 remain.
