Knoebel - 1875
The 1875 Lawrence L. Knoebel Covered Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge located at Knoebels Amusement Resort connecting Cleveland Township in Northumberland and Columbia Counties, Pennsylvania, and Ralpho Township in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. It is a 40-foot-long, modified Queen Post Truss bridge with a wood-shingled roof, constructed in 1875. It was moved to its present location between 1935 and 1937. It crosses South Branch Roaring Creek. It is one of 28 historic covered bridges in Columbia and Montour Counties.
This Queenpost through truss had an outer sidewalk added in the 1970s, and the bridge was modified to offer higher clearance for campers.
This bridge was originally constructed over West Creek, near Benton, Columbia County, in 1881 by J. J. McHenry at a cost of $348.00. In 1936 it was sold to H. H. Knoebel and Sons for $40.00.
Note: The first couple of images have the park's historic 1959 Wooden Roller Coaster, which was built in Texas. It is barely visible through the trees to the left of the bridge, but it is there.
