Claycomb - 1880
1880 Claycomb Covered Bridge, also called Reynoldsdale Bridge, which stands at the entrance to Old Bedford Village, just north of Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. It was built in Reynoldsdale and was moved to its present location and restored in 1975.
Claycomb Bridge is a "Burr Truss" design that has been reinforced with steel to support bus traffic that frequents Old Bedford Village.
The roof is constructed of Cedar shakes and the deck consists of cross-board planks. It sits on poured concrete abutments. The sides are totally enclosed and the structure is unpainted.
The bridge is 126 feet long, 14 feet wide, and with a clearance of 12 feet 6 inches.
Of the 1,500 covered bridges that once stood in the state of Pennsylvania, as of 2019, approximately 200 remain.
