The 1945 Short Covered Bridge is located 12 miles east of Sweet Home in Linn County, Oregon. This 105-foot Howe truss bridge spans the South Santiam River. Named after resident Gordon Short, a longtime resident, it is the only remaining covered bridge over the South Fork of the Santiam River. The bridge is also known for its wooden shingle roof, a rare feature among Oregon's covered bridges.
The span is Linn County's most eastern covered bridge. When the wooden-housed structure was built, the bridge was known more commonly as the Whiskey Butte Bridge. Quite often, visitors are surprised by ducks, deer, and other animals in the vicinity of the bridge.
Short Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
