The Charleton Mill Road Covered Bridge is a 120-foot Howe through truss bridge over Massies Creek on Charleton Mill Road in Wilberforce, Greene County, Ohio. Built in 1882 by Henry Hebble, it was replaced with a modern covered bridge in 2013. A combination of the creek flooding and wear and tear throughout the years caused the bridge to close in 2011. Later, it was replaced with a replicated covered bridge using new materials; no original materials were apparently reused.
County documents indicate that the bridge was built by Henry Hebble in 1860 (although 1870 is displayed on it, and other websites estimate 1882). It is only approved for loads of up to 3 tons.
Greene County Engineer Robert Geyer said the bridge — covered inside with graffiti and showing obvious signs of distress — is rotting, and a load analysis said its true capacity is more like 2.25 tons
Dimensions: Length of largest span: 114.2 feet; Total length: 119.1 feet; Deck width: 16.1 feet; and Vertical clearance above deck: 13 feet.
Charleton Mill Road is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
