Concord - 1872
1872 Concord Covered Bridge was constructed with the Queenpost design by Daniel and Ruff, who owned land and mills nearby in Cobb County. The bridge has a total length of 131.5 ft and a deck width of 12.8 ft and has two spans with tension rods. For a century and a half in continuous use, this landmark bridge has been rebuilt, repaired, and strengthened to accommodate modern automobile traffic.
Concord Bridge replaced a bridge believed to have been built in the 1840s and destroyed during the Civil War. The Concord Covered Bridge has the distinction of being the only covered bridge still in use on a public highway in the metropolitan Atlanta area.
It is also known as Ruff Mill Bridge and Nickajack Creek Bridge.
There were once over 250 covered bridges in Georgia, but now only 15 remain.
Concord Covered Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
