Hassenplug - 1825
The Hassenplug Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge at Mifflinburg, Union County, Pennsylvania. It is a 71-foot-long, Burr Truss bridge, constructed in 1825, and overhauled in 1959. It crosses Buffalo Creek. the Hassenplug Covered Bridge has earned recognition as the oldest covered bridge in Pennsylvania.
Hassenplug Bridge is the oldest covered bridge in the United States. However, this distinction is also claimed for the Hyde Hall Bridge in Cooperstown, New York.
