Glen Hope - 1889
The Glen Hope Covered Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge over Little Elk Creek on Hickory Hill Road located in Elk Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. The Glen Hope Bridge is 78 feet in length and was built in 1889 by Menander Wood and George E. Jones with a Burr-like arch truss.
Glen Hope Bridge has vertical planking and eave-level window openings. It crosses Little Elk Creek. The bridge was burned by vandals in the late 1980s and was restored by 1994. Glen Hope Bridge is also called Elks Mills Covered Bridge and John Anderson's Ford Covered Bridge.
Of the 1,500 covered bridges that once stood in the state of Pennsylvania, as of 2019, approximately 200 remain.
