East & West Paden 1884
The East Paden Twin Covered Bridges are located at Fishing Creek Township in Columbia County, Pennsylvania.
The Twin Bridges - East Paden Covered Bridge No. 120 is a historic wooden covered bridge 75-foot-long, with a Queenpost and a sheet metal roof, constructed in 1850. It crosses Huntington Creek and is one of 28 historic covered bridges in Columbia and Montour Counties. It is considered a twin of the Twin Bridges - West Paden Covered Bridge No. 121. However, the West Paden bridge has a Burr truss, even though they look similar outside the deck.
The Twin Bridges, constructed in 1884 by W. C. Pennington for $720, are named after John Paden, who operated a nearby sawmill. Twin Bridges County Park was created in 1963 when a new road bypassed the bridges.
Bridge No. 121 has a larger span, measuring 112 feet. This Burr Truss bridge is a rebuild of the original bridge, which was built in 1884 and destroyed by a flood in 2006, and reconstructed in 2008.
Bridge No. 120 span is original, dating back to 1884.
The Twins were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
