Oakalla - 1898
The Oakalla Covered Bridge was built in 1898 by J.J. Daniels. This single-span, Burr arch bridge with cut stone abutments has a sheet metal roof. The name of the bridge is derived from the former Oakalla Station on the Old Big Four Railroad. Spanning Big Walnut Creek in Putnam County, Indiana, Oakalla Bridge is open to traffic.
Length of largest span: 162 ft.; total length: 165 ft.; deck width: 13.4 ft.; vertical clearance above deck: 13.7 ft.
Eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
